Dear colleagues,
with the presentation of the new website, and after several difficult months for our organization, I am pleased to announce that the Académie d’Armes Internationale restarts with a new Executive Committee, new technical commissions and a lot of projects to achieve.
First of all, let me introduce the members of the Committee, and commissions for which they are already at work:
Mtre Cedric Deloison, French-Swedish, Vice-President and Secretary General, who will handle the Commission Public Relations, Communication and Promotion,
Mtre Gerard Williot, Belgian, Vice-President and Treasurer, who will handle the Artistic Fencing Commission,
M° Marco Arpino, Switzerland, Vice-President, who is in charge of Education and Culture Commission,
Mtre François Wacquez, French, Vice-President, who is responsible for the Olympic Fencing Commission,
and finally, I, M° Giovanni Rapisardi, Italian, for Legal and Control Commission and for Special Projects Team.
The Committee has already met this June 13 in Busto Arsizio, Italy, and has defined its primary objectives: through the work of Maître Maître Deloison and Williot have been obtained during the last World Championships in Moscow, a meeting FIE with the Secretary General, Mr. Pietruszka, who welcomed us with great cordiality and has demonstrated the value of the FIE to resume cooperation relations with the AAI.
During the same mission we met with representatives of the Russian Academy, which will host the next World Championships Fencing, 2016 Kolomna. Maître Williot is working for the new technical regulations of the discipline, which will be written by a team of experts from France, Italy, Portugal and Russia, and soon published on the site.
Maître Wacquez is working on new regulations of the Fencing Masters World Championship and the Committee decided to anticipate in 2017 the next competition, which will take place in Strasbourg.
Maestro Arpino, lawyer and expert in international law, developed the new Fencing Masters International Qualification System, perfectly in line with European and non-European standards on the professional qualifications of teachers and sports coaches: National Academies that will be organized to provide training and certification to this new system, will be certified and organize courses with the AAI patronage.
Finally, the Legal Commission is at work for the reform of the AAI Statutes, to update and avoid in future situations of uncertainty and conflict as those of the Congress of Prato and Frankfurt, which, unfortunately, have provided fractures I hope shall be treated.
A lot of work, but also many prospective for the future of our AAI: the challenge is launched and we are already en garde!
Voster in armis and sine armis
M ° Giovanni Rapisardi, President of the IAA
